Heaven On Earth

Posted by Dawn Peacock on

Although I often write and talk about how worship is so much more than the portion of our church services devoted to singing or voicing praise, that time is definitely a large part of worship.  It not only brings glory to god, but it lifts our own spirits as well.  When we speak, (or sing,) out loud the adjectives that describe the character of our Father, words like "holy," "majestic," "worthy," or "glorious," we are putting him in his right place in our thoughts.  It is awesome to think that as we lift our voices in worship, we join with voices in Heaven.

The four beasts around the throne cry without ceasing "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!"

The twenty-four elders cast their crowns down and cry "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created."

Myriads and myriads and thousands and thousands cry, "Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth, and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!"

And it goes on and on!

Do you realize that lifting our voices in worship is the only activity we do here on earth that we will do in Heaven?

Right now, Bible study is imperative, but we will not do it in Heaven.

Right now, witnessing to the lost and ministering to the needy is our commission, but there will be no lost or needy people in Heaven.

Right now, it takes delegation of tasks and budgeting of finances and much week-to-week planning to function well as a specific congregation of believers, but not in Heaven.

The ONLY thing we do now that we will do in Heaven, is to worship and praise our Lord.  Don't think of worship now as a rehearsal for Heaven, think of it as an extension of Heaven. When we worship, we are literally experiencing "Heaven on Earth."

Don't wait until Sunday morning each week to take part in the praise that flows around the throne of God! Lift your voice and give him glory whenever and wherever you can!
